QOU organizes a Workshop entitled Mobile Devices and Designing Education

Continuing Education and Community Service Center, in cooperation with PICTI, organized a workshop entitled Mobile Devices and Designing Education in Ramallah City and under the auspices of Prof. Younes Amr, the President of the University. The Workshop was held following the Conference of Smart Learning for Community Service that was organized by QOU previously. The Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Sameer El-Najdi, welcomed the guests and initiated the workshop with a speech, in which he praised the efforts of CEC for organizing a workshop that tackles an important topic. The Director of CEC, Mr. Mahmoud Hawamdeh explained that the workshop demonstrates the use of Mobile devices in education. Mr. Maher Alawneh from PICTI stated that the cooperation between the two institutions aims at benefiting the community and addressing rising conventional topics around the world. The main speaker of the Workshop is Prof. John Traxler, an expert in Mobile learning at University of Wolverhampton, who presented a research paper that tackled a number of challenges facing using Mobiles in education, the most important one is that smart learning is not up to date with the surrounding environment. QOU holds the first international conference on Smart Learning for Community Development

Under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Sabri Sedam, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Continuing Education and Community Service Center and Open Learning Center organized the first international conference on Smart Learning for Community Development on 20th of Mar, 2017 at Red Crescent Society in Bireh. . The conference started with opening speeches by Eng. Adnan Samarah, the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Prof. Younes Amr, the President of the University, and Prof. Sameer El-Najdi, the Head of the Preparatory Committee and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Director of Media Unit, Mr. Abdelqader El-Darweesh was appointed as the Master of the Conference. He initiated the launch of the conference along with Dr. Sabri Saidam who praised the resilience of Palestinians and their strive for education and life. He praised the efforts of QOU in the field of education, especially in smart learning and open learning. He also added that education plays a vital role in the Palestinian society and acts as a weapon to fight Israeli occupation and build an independent state. QOU wins UALL International Award for best innovative educational project

Al Quds Open University won UALL (Universities Association for Lifelong Learning) international Award for its project “Mobile Educational Center to Improve the Educational Opportunities in Marginalized Areas”. The project, which is implemented, by the Continuing Education and Community Service Center at QOU is funded by Community Resilience and Development Program (CRDP), and aims to enhance the education opportunities for marginalized groups in South Hebron and Tubas, through equipping two vans with computer lab. The van travels in the marginalized areas to provide education to children who live in areas that lack technological infrastructure. The project is managed by Dr. Eng. Islam Amr, assisted by the technical staff of the Information and Communication Technology Center (ICTC) and supervised by Eng. Mohammad Fahel.   Dr. Eng. Islam Amr expressed his pride for the wining of UALL International Award and for being ranked in the first place in an international competition competing prestigious universities in Europe and the Middle East.
